Ingredients
1/2 pint fresh milk 8oz butter 2lb granulated sugar 2 tbs golden syrup 1 large tin nestle milk 1 tsn vanilla essence
Method grease a tin 9×12. put butter and sugar into a saucepan over low heat until the sugar has dissolved. add the syrup and the nestle milk and bring slowly to the boil then simmer gently stirng continuously, for about 35 mins. after time is up place a teaspoon of the mix in a bowl of cool water and if it form a soft ball it is done. then remove from heat to cool for 5 mins, then add the vanilla essence and beat with a wooden spoon until thick and grained in appearance. pour into the preprepared tine and leave to partially set, after a while mark a grin into the top with a sharp knife.
